What Is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is the branch of oral care that focuses on aligning your teeth and correcting your bite, all of which can contribute to improved oral health. Most orthodontic treatments involve conventional braces, retainers, or clear aligners, such as Invisalign.
Our orthodontic team is located at The Orthodontic Dental Centre. We monitor children’s growth and development and will refer to the orthodontic team when the child is ready for a consultation.

Many people seek orthodontic treatment for cosmetic reasons, but there are many other potential benefits to orthodontic treatment, especially for children.
The potential benefits include:
- improved oral health
- speech improvement
- more self-confidence
- prevention of dental trauma
- proper bite alignment for enhanced chewing

When Should My Child Start Orthodontics?
We suggest early consultation of childhood dental growth and development. We recommend bringing your child to their first orthodontic visit around age 7. Children may not need any treatment at that age, but it is a good time to start monitoring their teeth closely and to identify what treatments may be needed in the future.
